Petra Smeltzer

Petra Smeltzer has been serving as the Executive Director of the Heat is Power Association as of July 1, 2021. Petra has three decades of state and federal level government affairs experience spearheading strategic and practical results for key government and energy trade organizations, including Governor Bob Taft (OH), the American Petroleum Institute, the National Electrical Manufacturing Association, the Electric Power Supply Association and the National Association of Water Companies. Her skills include building industry coalitions, negotiating and brokering agreements between government and industry and raising the profile of trade associations through collaboration.

The Heat is Power Association (HiP) is the trade association for the waste heat to power (WHP) industry. HiP educates decision makers about clean energy from waste heat and lobbies for policies that provide parity for WHP with other sources of emission-free power.

John Prunkl is Ironclad Energy’s CEO, co-founder and has 30+ years of global operating experience in natural gas fired CHP, district energy, wind energy, waste heat, waste water, chilling, standalone power plants and byproduct fuel fired generation facilities. As an owner and operator of independent generation facilities Prunkl has strong technical understanding of power plants, plant economics as well as how to operate in both public and private capital structures. Prunkl received his MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University, and his BA in Mathematics from Huntingdon College. He serves as Chairman of the Waste Heat to Power Association and sits on the Mechanical Engineering advisory board at Auburn University.

Kevin was the former rural Nevada elected county commissioner and has fourteen years of legislative and administrative experience in local and federal government management, regulation, and policy.

Janice serves as the Secretary for the Heat is Power Association. Janice also provides the leadership and financing strategy as the Chief Executive Officer for Kanin Energy, a clean energy development company. Prior to Kanin, Janice was an early employee and Director at Generate Capital, a project finance investment firm that focused on investing in renewable energy projects. There she built North America’s largest portfolio of anaerobic digestions assets. Her role spanned across deal execution, origination, market development and asset management. Prior to Generate Capital, Janice worked at NRG, one of America’s largest power producers, to start their renewable microgrids business line. Janice also co-founded Student Energy, a non-profit which is today’s largest global charity dedicated to educating and uniting post-secondary students on energy issues.

President and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Klefeker has been the President and CEO of Primary Energy since November 2015. His prior work experience of 20 years includes executive management responsibilities with Southwest Generation, Inc., Black Hills Corporation and Indeck Capital, Inc.

Mr. Klefeker began his career with Northern Indiana Public Service Company with responsibilities in the electric & gas utilities and corporate finance areas of the company.

His education background includes a B.S. degree from Purdue University and a M.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.

Lynn Abramson is President of the Clean Energy Business Network – the small business voice for the clean energy economy. CEBN enhances opportunities for clean energy providers through policy support, business development, and market and technology education.

CEBN’s 5,000+ members span all 50 U.S. states and more than 350 Congressional districts. These business leaders work across a diverse suite of technologies and services in energy efficiency, renewable energy, natural gas, and other advanced energy and transportation sectors. Lynn leads the CEBN’s efforts to mobilize business voices in support of policy change, leverage case studies and narratives to illustrate the benefits of clean energy to the public and policymakers, and promote industry collaboration and networking.

Lynn previously managed the CEBN at its former home in The Pew Charitable Trusts from July 2013 until its transition to become an independent initiative of the Business Council for Sustainable Energy in May 2017. Before that, she worked in the U.S. Senate as a Senior Legislative Assistant on energy, natural resources, and transportation policy. She earned a B.A. in Biology from Boston University and a Ph.D. in Marine and Atmospheric Sciences from Stony Brook University, where her research on carbon cycle processes spurred her interest in advancing low-carbon energy solutions.

Ilaria Peretti serve as a North American resident for Turboden since 2011, managing the sales and identifying new business leads in USA and Canada for Turboden technology and Turboden products. Earlier, she supported the integration between Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and Turboden, training technical and salespeople at MHI Head Quarter in Japan and developing the Japanese network for ORC. She started her career working in an Energy Service Company (ESCO). She holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Marche, with an internship at the University of Ulster, UK, and an MBA from the University of Indiana.
